One of the nation’s fastest growing suburbs, Woodstock was also one of the first areas of the county to be settled due to its flatter, more accessible terrain.

A Bit of History

Once the M&NG Railroad established a depot in 1879, the town began to flourish, birthing gristmills, and woodworking and yarn spinning industries, all of which benefited from the abundance of surrounding water power from the Little River and other local streams.

By the 1890s the town was shipping 2,000 bales of cotton annually, while mining developments furthered the economy.

New Developments

Anchoring the southernmost part of the county, approximately 12 miles south of Canton, the city has experienced a 70 percent growth rate the past ten years.

Hedgewood Properties’ Woodstock Downtown is a new mixed-use development in the heart of the city, offering single family-homes, condos, office and retail space, and a new park that preserves the area’s historic charm while creating a new “old fashioned” neighborhood.
